"My story"

Hi, my name is: Shari

But you can call me:
see above

Never in my life have I: eaten caviar, escargot, or um...octopus. Nor shall I.

The one person who can drive me nuts is: He knows who he is.

My high school is/was: a place I have fond memories of.

When I’m nervous: I bite my nails.

The last song I listened to was: Rickey was listening to Three Doors Down (the whole CD-don't remember the last one)

If I were to get married right now it would be to: Rickey

My hair is: really not having a good day.

When I was 4: I got my ears pierced. I begged and begged and my grandmother took me.

Last Christmas: was 8 months ago! wow.

I should be: working out more often.

When I look down I see: my pink shirt

The happiest recent event was: relaxing after enduring a stressful time.

If I were a character on ‘Friends’ I'd be: A recurring roll as Shari, Rachel's bestest coolest friend.

By this time next year: I just don't know, OKAY!? :D

My current gripe is: Who is griping?

I have a hard time understanding: Murphy, with all his laws and bylaws.

If I won an award, the first person I would tell would be: Rickey

I want to buy: a little house on the ocean, a cabin in the mountains, and a sweet penthouse in the city.

I plan to visit next: The Golden Isles

If you spent the night at my house: you would freeze, because Rickey keeps it looow. (about 67 year round)

The world could do without: too many things to name...

Most recent thing I’ve bought myself: 2 books.

Most recent thing someone else bought me: Lunch today.

My middle name is: If someone who reads this blog wants to know, just email me... I'll tell you.

In the morning I: am not that kind of person.

Last night I was: at the movies with Rickey and Dylan. We saw the new Bean movie. We all thought it was terrible. What made it even worse was this woman in the theater who obviously-VERY obviously enjoyed it. Laughing constantly all the way through it. Even when something would happen that was finally mildly amusing- she ruined it by distracting me with her hyena laugh. **okay, I guess my "gripe" from earlier is: disruptively loud people at the movies.

There’s this guy I know who: lives in our neighborhood and curses (screams) to himself when he cuts his grass, thinking that no one can hear behind the noise of the mower....but we can.

If I was an animal I’d be a: a human ;). hmmmm... or a dolphin. They're pretty cool.

A better name for me would be: I like my name. I used to think if I had a girl I would name her Heather, (yuck!) and then later I thought Ivey would be a good one. Now I have no idea. I like what Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner named their daughter--Violet.

Tomorrow I am: working.

Tonight I am: going to watch Perfect Stranger with Halle Berry and Bruce Willis on DVD.

My birthday is: see the middle name question.

Today I had my first ever anti-aging cosmetic procedure done at the doctor's office. It's called PPx Skin Rejuvenation . It's a type of laser therapy (pneumatic energy and broadband light), but is supposed to be more advanced/effective than previous ones and with no pain or side effects.

We actually went there for a teenage acne treatment process for Dylan. He doesn't have acne, but is just beginning to deal with a few problems, and it's supposed to improve overall skin health by suctioning the pores and lasering/killing the bacteria in the pores. While he was being treated, I discovered it's the same laser thing that removes (pigmentation) sun spots on your face, unwanted hair, shrinks and cleans pores, etc. "Um, can you do this to meeeee today, too?" We were taught about levels and how the intensity of the laser is how they treat different issues. For example, level 2 is just for acne, level 3 for hair removal. We have to continue going back for 5 more treatments to complete the process, although improvement is supposed to be noticed right away, I believe by the second one. I have a few sun spots on my face. They aren't able to get any that are close to my eyes which happen to be the most noticeable ones I have. Oh well, I'll just pretend to myself that they're beauty marks. ;)

I have a little redness around my nose and am hoping to minimize the pores on my face that are near my nose. I also have tiny, light colored hairs around the corners of my mouth....totally not noticeable, but the thought of it eventually becoming a problem has always bugged me. So I'm removing what I have and preventing any potential problems in the future. .

JEM LYRICS

"Just A Ride"

Life, it's ever so strange
It's so full of change
Think that you've worked it out
Then BANG
Right out of the blue
Something happens to you
To throw you off course
And then you

Breakdown
Yeah you breakdown
Well don't you breakdown
Listen to me
Because

It's just a ride, it's just a ride
No need to run, no need to hide
It'll take you round and round
Sometimes you're up
Sometimes you're down
It's just a ride, it's just a ride
Don't be scared
Don't hide your eyes
It may feel so real inside
But don't forget it's just a ride

Truth, we don't wanna hear
It's too much to take
Don't like to feel out of control
So we make our plans
Ten times a day
And when they don't go
Our way we

Breakdown
Yeah we breakdown
Well don't you breakdown
Listen to me
Because

It's just a ride, it's just a ride
No need to run, no need to hide
It'll take you round and round
Sometimes you're up
Sometimes you're down
It's just a ride, it's just a ride
Don't be scared
Don't hide your eyes
It may feel so real inside
But don't forget it's just a ride

Slowly, oh so very slowly
Accept that
There's no getting off
So live it, just gotta go with it
Coz this ride's, never gonna stop

Breakdown
Don't you breakdown
No need to breakdown
No need at all
Because

It's just a ride, it's just a ride
No need to run, no need to hide
It'll take you all around
Sometimes you're up
Sometimes you're down
It's just a ride, it's just a ride
Don't be scared now
Dry your eyes
It may feel so real inside
But don't forget enjoy the ride

A whopping 1%!
I am sooo well traveled.

I can't seem to get beyond the southeastern section of the US. I'm up to 11 states now. WOO HOO! :)

I'm having a day where I just want to stay home and hide from the outside world. I don't feel this way often. Usually I'm always on the go, but today, the thought of leaving to go anywhere at all makes me want to crawl back in bed. I'm just blah. I've showered, but I don't feel like getting ready, i.e. styling hair, picking out clothes, getting dressed, putting on makeup. There's nothing appealing enough to go do- to make me want to do all that getting ready stuff, either.

There is a heat wave here...temperatures repeatedly reaching over 100 and up to 106 this past week. Maybe that has something to do with it. I wish it was one of those wintry, rainy days where you light a fire in the fire place, drink hot chocolate and curl up with a good book. The thought of hot chocolate on a day like today seems too hot even though it's cool inside.

I've stayed in bed over half the day watching TV and reading. That, in turn, causes me to feel off-kilter and even more lethargic and so I seem to be stuck. I've forced myself to do the strenuous activity of writing on my blog. ;)
I haven't felt open lately...haven't felt able to be personal on my blog, which is why a lot of the time I post pictures or articles of interest. I still love my blog, still see it as a creative outlet where I can do everything from just be silly, to venting, to expressing my innermost feelings. At times I feel it's somehow inappropriate to unabashedly reveal intimate details in my life.... so when you (regular and random visitors) see that happen....sort of a drop in consistent posting, or a lack of the personal stuff.... now you know I'm just feeling...um....protective. Or maybe you knew that already and maybe you go through that, too.

Just Because...

That is the coolest... um... thing. I don't even know what it is other than modern art you could sit in. I took it in Memphis, Tennesee on a recent trip. If you click to enlarge, it's even better.

This was also taken in Memphis.

Ah, what the hell, here's one more. :)

As much as I loved The Lost Boys back in the day...

I'm thinking this is really not a good idea.

From TMZ:
Crazy-eyes Corey Feldman and his be-Botoxed trainwreck/sidekick Corey Haim
have both signed on to reprise their roles in a long overdue
(translation: should never be made) sequel to the 1987 teen horror flick "The Lost Boys."

The former teen heartthrobs are now way over the celebrity hill, but that hasn't stopped them from acting like little babies on their A&E reality show, the oh-so-creatively titled "The Two Coreys."

I know I'll still watch it, though. You think Kiefer will sign on?

School shopping for Dylan. School starts back next week. eeeeeek
Sort of sad summer vacation is over.

Went to a restaurant we've never been to last night....yeah.... I should've just blogged about that experience. 5 seasons
Looked like a nice little steak house/ brewery. Inside they tout the fact that everything is natural and organic and hormone and pesticide free. And fresh. Local farms and nearby oceans, blah, blah, blah. Okay, this is nice. Then, we were told one of their specials of the day was fried rabbit livers. Say what? Fried Rabbit Livers. Also on the regular menu, as well.
Not my thing.
Or Rickey's.
Or Dylan's.
They had a lot of strange sounding items on the menu.
I got poussin. It said, "Fried french (that order) chicken, fresh homemade smashed potatoes, and summer squash and zucchini."
Rickey and Dylan played it safe and both got a grilled pizza, although, that wasn't an easy choice when the options for pizza toppings were "Wild Mushroom Asparagus, Granny Serrano Caramelized Granny Smiths, or House cured Salmon Avocado, Red Onion and Baby Cilantro, or Spicy Sopressata Cured Italian Sausage, etc.
We weren't really in an adventurous mood.
When they brought mine out it was a whole chicken that had been deep fried and....yuuuuuck. I can't really describe what specifically repulsed me about it, but something definitely did. Maybe it was that it looked a little pink inside and the smell truly grossed me out. The potatoes were not at all good and the zuchini looked weird--sort of clear and water logged.
They shared their pizza with me. It was really good. I still may go back sometime.

The End.

My latest low calorie obsession...

It's 50 calories for a 20 oz bottle. Tastes great. Lightly sweetened. NO artificial sweeteners. :)

The website is really cool. http://glaceau.com/

They make several other healthy beverages. Vitamin water is good, but too many calories for me.
