We have just rented the investment house out. The person I wrote about that we originally hoped to rent it to never resolved the situation she is in with the owners where she currently lives, and eventually we had no other choice than to consider other applicants. Most of the people that called didn't like the price we were asking and would back off immediately when we told them the amount of rent. We finally went down on our price and decided to rent it to a nice young couple who will soon be married. Even though they are young; he's 20 and she's 22- they are responsible, nonsmokers, and will maintain the landscaping, which is a plus, because the other person could not. He is moving in first, next week, and she will join him immediately after they marry in May. She is graduating from college right before their wedding and will be teaching school this August. He is in college (although taking a break) and plans to get a degree in business. They both work jobs in the meantime and can meet the rent requirements.
They are both excited to be living in such a nice home just starting out and have gushed on and on about their decorating plans. She is planning to have an apple theme in the kitchen; the front bedroom is going to be an office for both of them; the sunroom/den is the hangout room, and so on.
Oh yeah...
One more little detail, though.... um... (insert drumroll)
The new tenants are Jason and Ashley...my son and his fiancée.
