Just because.

Lately, Rickey and I have developed a routine of watching TV series on DVD. We just finished season one of -don't laugh- Beverly Hills 90210.

I loved that show back in the day. Is it a coincidence that I have a child named Dylan? I think not. Actually with the process of name elimination it came down to naming him Dylan or Ryan and when he was born he stared at me intently and let me know in no uncertain terms that he was definitely to be named Dylan...but I digress. As the years passed of watching 90210 I eventually lost interest and don't even recall how or when it ended. I recently discovered that Rickey had never watched it and we are now completely engrossed in it as though we're reliving our time in high school together. Brandon, Dylan, Kelly, Steve, Donna, Andrea and Brenda are in my clique. Actually, I think I'm secretly Brenda.

In the early years Brenda was cool, although in my opinion later she became a bitch. I think in real life she-Shannon Daugherty- became conceited and it bled through to the demeanor of her character...I digress again. Watching that show again revives feelings of youth in me and adds a certain spark to my eyes. Season 2 comes out May 1st. I'm there. :)

Yesterday I came across new pictures of Jason Priestly and Jennie Garth. We are all getting older... They look good for their age and everything, but it's weird to get accustomed to seeing them on the show and then see them now at their current ages.

LMAO

I don't know what possessed me to do this a minute ago but I was looking at a picture online and because her hair is similar to mine, I thought "hmmmm..." lolol and copied it onto paint and put my head on it. Not really the best picture of me- but the size of it worked for what I was doing...just playing around. My latest creation on paint...entitled- Inspiration For Weight Loss. ;) Think I'll save it to my desktop.

I had a couple of weird dreams the other night and it reminded me of a couple of blogs I read recently where they did a post about a dream they had. Good blog topic...

You know the kind of dream that just has a different feel from most...and the memory of it stays forever etched into your mind? One of the strangest, most unsettling dreams I've ever had was when my son, Jason, was a toddler. I dreamed we were walking on a bridge and he kept running up ahead of me. The bridge seemed to be in the middle of nowhere...like a desolate void. Sort of an old fashioned London-style bridge with maybe a lamppost or two. I think it was nighttime; there was a thick fog all around the bridge and you could see nothing but the bridge. I was concentrating on watching out for Jason. All of a sudden a woman was walking slowly in between us and she was blocking my view of Jason and I wanted to catch up. I tried to go around her but she somehow continued to block my path. I smiled politely, not wanting to offend her and said, "Excuse me, I'm just trying to catch up to my baby over there." She slowly looked at me in an intense and creepy way and chuckled, and said, "Baby? There's no such thing. You don't have a baby. There is no baby at all. " In a panic, I immediately woke up with an intense feeling of fear and dread that I might really have just imagined that I have a son and he might not exist in real life at all. That's how much what she said, and the way she said it jolted me. I was severely relieved to see him sleeping contentedly in his crib.

I mentioned recently that I am venturing into starting my own business investing in real estate. We found a HUD foreclosure and
participated in an auction this week on this house:

This is NOT the house but similar to it. (the forcelosure more rundown) I was going to post a real picture but they removed it when the auction closed.
You have to meet qualifications and submit a serious offer and they process everyone's bids on a specific date. They announce the winning bid online and you move forward from there. The bid I submitted ended up being the second highest bid and I lost out on this house by $1,600.00.
I wasn't really disappointed...this is just the beginning.

I am messing around with my template and I have no idea why my profile is now below my archives. I think this is gonna be highly annoying time consuming.

*okay, I changed back and then deleted my header so I could start making a new one. I inserted this sentence (see pic) and it shows up in the "preview changes" screen, but not on my page after I update. wtf.

**update
-now I've inserted a template and am in the process of customizing it. I'm now attempting to finish removing a peagreen color that borders the posts. I know I'll keep changing things until it feels right. One reason I kept the other template for so long was that it was simple, unobtrusive, and had room for any personal changes.

***now I'm playing with a color wheel and attempting to learn how to fade the colors on the background.

When we went to the cabin last weekend, the only time we ventured into town was when we went to a real life genuine DRIVE-IN Movie theater. So freakin' cool. I went to one when I was like 4 and I barely remember it. As you can see by the picture, it was just getting dark when they started it. They were showing a Double feature; Meet The Robinsons and Wild Hogs. Must be absolutely the only thing to do in the town because it was completely packed. We were on the second row and I was thinking, "This is so cool. How often do you get the opportunity to watch a movie from your car?"
You had to tune your radio to a local FM station to hear the sound. We joked about how the people in that town having conversations, "Have you seen such and such?" "No, but I heard it. Pretty good, think I'll just wait to see it when it comes out on DVD." We had actually taken two vehicles, because we brought a couple of relatives on the trip with us and didn't want to contend with 3 boys in the back seat for two movies. Rickey was over at his truck, ensuring that they were settled in and I was going "Ahhh, this is the life." I turned on the window washer to make sure our view was crystal clear, when I happened to notice a man in his late forties standing to the left of my car, wiping off his glasses because the spray from my car was hitting his face. eeek-Oops. Then he walks a few steps forward in front of my car and motions to my headlights that I had left on. Oooops! Sorry, not from around here. :)
We watched the first movie, Meet The Robinsons, (cute) and that's all we could take of sitting on our butts in the car. And they (the boys) were very ready to leave, too. Us movie-addicts had already seen Wild Hogs anyway.
The best thing about the cabin was:

Ms. Pacman!!!
I want one! I've always wanted to have a gameroom in my home with a real arcade game, pinball machine, pool table and more. I would like a real coke machine (serving free cokes, :) of course)
The one at the cabin was nice, because it had about 100 games you could play on it. The main screen let you choose from A to Z- things like Donkey Kong, Frogger, Centipede, Q-bert, etc.
That's pretty much what we did the whole weekend. It was unexpectedly very cold -freezing-and we had to have our Easter Egg hunt indoors. That was an adventure. I don't know who had more fun...Rickey and I hiding them, or the boys on the hunt.
We had 60 plastic eggs and 3 golden prize eggs. The ground rule was if you discovered a prize golden one, then that was your prize and if you found another one you had to pass it up and let someone else find it. It worked out great. So...that was my getaway. :)

If you could recommend a book that really inspired you and made a difference in your life, or even just a really entertaining book....what book would it be?

No Comments On This One, Please.

I was controlling?
Well, that's what I had to be
Parents control kids.

I call it raising
You in the right direction
Keeping your path straight

I was a wild teen
Pulled all the tricks in the book
Got pregnant with you

Knew what to watch for
And yes, I kept you from things
Just tried to do right

Worked hard to achieve
Indeed, made it my purpose
To be a good mom

Spoiling you rotten
I gave endless attention
taken for granted

Generation ME
That is how yours is defined
And now I see why

No one is perfect
But I deserve a Big A
Instilled many things

Struggled to give you
All the things I never had
And I succeeded

Put you before me
Now you think you're above me
Your esteem so high

Like the Will Smith song
Prayed and pledged my life to you
Took so much life force

All I wanted back
Was a close relationship
Cherish each other

You abandoned me
Just when it was time to say
Thanks for everything

You are engaged now
I guess your life is so full
And you don't need me

Something I'm focusing on now is looking into the logistics of investing in real estate. Commercial, residential, foreclosures, etc.

Some possibilities are buying a piece of land, sitting on it until it sells, buying a fixer-upper or foreclosure in need of minimal repair and selling and/or renting until it sells. I've met people who are entrepreneurs in this area and are very successful. It's one of very few areas in business that I have had a lingering sense of interest and drive for.

I called my bank recently and was given their latest foreclosure info. Rickey and I went today and looked at 2 properties in our feasible price range and neither one was close to what I'm searching for...
My search has just begun. "The journey of a 1000 miles begins with a single step." -Confucius

"All successful people- men and women- are big dreamers. They imagine what their future could be, ideal in every respect, and then they work every day toward their distant vision, that goal or purpose."

A while ago I posted the silly song below.

Okay... imagine me singing, using a whispery voice, sort of an English accent combined with Australian, improvising this song on a recent road trip. Here goes:

I don't want
to fight
in the car

I don't want to fight
when we
drive real far

I don't want to fight
at night
Even
if I'm right

I don't want to fight
in the
morning (remember...English/Australian accent)
Consider this
your warning....

I just want
to get along
That is why
I've sung
this song

(I started making the song up one time when we kept snapping at each other while being grumpy on a long road trip. Our bickering ended and we were laughing hysterically. :)The song has actually evolved over several trips in the car.We keep adding/ removing verses. LOL)

Occasionally, we still add lyrics to it - like a while back when our dog was at the vet getting a hernia operation and we were waiting in the lobby & Rickey and I squabbled about something (nothing) until finally we weren't speaking to each other. Dylan and I started coloring to pass the time and I made Rickey a card that said, "I don't want to fight at the vet...this should be about our pet." (then we made up :P)

and I added one today:

“I don’t want to fight today.
Even if it means I don’t get my way….”

*we made up ;-)

Once again, posting my latest creation in paint. Until my writer's block has officially subsided, it's just gotta be that way. :)
Weekend Getaway

Getting away this weekend. :) I guess our Easter Egg hunt will be in the mountains. Here are pictures of where we'll be staying. It's off season so the rates are really good.

Today I went to Old Navy to stock up on my annual supply of cheap, cute, comfortable flip flops.

While there I also found the absolute cutest sandals, but nooooo I couldn't get them. Old Navy didn't have them in my size (8).

Wanna know why?
'Cause they only sell those espadrilles in infant/baby sizes! Sigh.
This has happened to me more than a few times. I stop and admire some sort of sandal, boot, or cool, feminine running shoe, only to find it's only sold in girls sizes.
Maybe my taste is juvenile....? LOL
Seriously, though, the next time you're strolling through a department store-- take a quick look over at the girls shoes.... They are totally cheating us.

Still uninspired. Here's my latest desktop background I made in Paint. I know....so high school. :)
